Why LenSx is preferred by Laguna Beach and other Orange County residents

Today, we have many more outstanding medical treatments for eye conditions than ever before. The Orange County Eye Institute is proud to offer our patients a wide range of choices when it comes to replacement of the natural lens in cataract removal surgery. Not only do we help patients identify the most suitable intra ocular lens to replace the clouded, natural lens, but we also offer the most efficient surgical procedure to complete this transition.

There is a great deal of intricacy in the details of cataract removal, and Dr. George Salib has the extensive experience that makes his patients feel comfortable. Our practice, as well, offers patients the choice of laser-assisted surgery using LenSx. We are proud to provide this option in our practice near Laguna Beach, increasing the predictability of outcome for our patients.

How LenSx works

The benefit of LenSx laser assisted cataract surgery is precision. The degree of precision attained through laser technology comes in part by selective automation during various steps in the cataract removal procedure. Essentially, the equipment used in our office tailors treatment to the map of each patient’s eye.

LenSx is a bladeless surgical procedure in which the clouded lens is removed and replaced with the chosen intra ocular lens. This system is a product of Alcon used to achieve 100 percent customization in cataract surgery. Customization is achieved through the use of optical coherence tomography, technology that captures detailed, high-resolution images of the eyes.

In addition to precision eye mapping, LenSx is also favorable due to innovative femtosecond laser technology. The femtosecond laser delivers pulses of energy to the clouded lens at the fastest possible rate. This technology has been used for more than a decade in procedures such as LASIK surgery so has been well studied and proven a safe and effective surgical instrument. As the femtosecond laser targets the lens, the perfect capsulotomy is made and the outcome of surgery becomes more predictable.
