Dr. George Salib offers several effective eye procedures to his patients in Laguna Hills, CA.
Laser Eye Treatments
There are several eye conditions that a patient may develop that can only be corrected through laser eye surgery. Some of these conditions include glaucoma or cataracts. We provide the very best and latest in laser therapy for the treatment of glaucoma through what is termed Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (or SLT) which is performed in-clinic using nothing more than some eye drops to numb the eye which will receive the treatment. It’s incredibly time efficient, normally only lasting a few minutes. This procedure allows the patient to better control their eye pressure, relieving the optic nerve and broadening your vision. Additional treatments we offer include Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (or LPI), which can be used as a preventative measure.
Cosmetic Eye Surgery
As you age, the desire to freshen up your face (especially around the eyes) may be a desire that begins to surface. Maybe you’ve developed small skin tags or growths around the eyelids that you wish you didn’t have to look at. It may be more than just how they look too. Sometimes growths, such as skin tags, may irritate your eyes. We are here to provide the option of removing these using nothing more than some local anesthesia. Minimal discomfort is experienced, and you get to go home on the same day. Another option we provide our patients is to correct drooping eyelids which may be affecting their vision through a procedure called blepharoplasty. This is an outpatient procedure that requires nothing more than some local anesthesia, allowing you to be home the same day and it’s often covered by insurance.
A pterygium is a growth, whitish-red in color, that comes from the conjunctiva and grows into the cornea. Typically, a pterygium is caused by excess sun exposure but is not a critical eye issue until it begins to grow close to the center of the eye or begins to cause significant discomfort. In several cases surgery is not required, and sunglasses to minimize sun exposure can correct it. In cases when surgery is required, it’s a simple outpatient procedure requiring local anesthesia. Our specialists have performed a huge amount of these removals and are incredibly successful at doing so.
Glaucoma is a significant issue that impacts a large portion of the population. Glaucoma occurs when pressure in the eye becomes so great that it begins to impact the optic nerve and you begin to lose the ability to see. You’ll notice it affecting your peripheral vision initially but, as it gets worse, so will your overall vision. Not only do we offer state-of-the-art testing equipment to diagnose your glaucoma, but we offer proven and successful treatment options including an incredibly precise and effective laser treatment designed to relieve the pressure and restore your sight.
