The eyes are the window to your world, and they are also what people will look at first when they see you. Sometimes people may notice little skin tags or growths on or around their eyelids that are unsightly or irritating them. These can be removed under local anesthesia (we do not have to put you to sleep) with minimal discomfort, and most of the time this can be conveniently done in the clinic by our physicians. You would go home the same day and follow up with the doctor usually within a week or so.
Also, sometimes people notice that their eyelids begin to droop a bit. This can affect your vision and make things appear darker, and it might cause you to raise your eyebrows and wrinkle your forehead in order to be able to see. Depending on the degree to which they are drooping and whether this is affecting your vision, surgery to correct for this is often covered by insurance. This is an outpatient procedure that usually involves local anesthesia, and you go home the same day. This surgery is called blepharoplasty, and it can be quite a wonderful experience for those that suffer from this condition. Come by the Orange County Eye Institute, and we will examine you and let you know if you are a candidate for this procedure.
